Da Nang offers a varied travel experience, combining a lively coastal city with nearby mountains, sandy shores, and flavorful local cuisine.
Located in central Vietnam, it makes a convenient base for exploring the region while enjoying modern cafés, waterfront walks, and traditional markets.

When to Visit Da Nang

February through May is generally a comfortable period for sightseeing, with relatively mild weather and opportunities to enjoy outdoor activities. June through August is warmer and often busier, particularly around the beaches, so accommodation may cost more during these months.

How Many Days Should You Stay?

Two days provide enough time to visit My Khe Beach, explore central markets, and see the Dragon Bridge after dark. With four days, visitors can add Ba Na Hills, take a drive along Hai Van Pass, or make a day trip to nearby Hoi An. Allowing extra time makes the experience more relaxed, especially when weather conditions affect outdoor plans.

Getting Around the City

Da Nang International Airport is close to the city center, making arrival relatively convenient. Taxis and ride-hailing services such as Grab are practical for reaching hotels, restaurants, and major attractions. Renting a motorbike offers greater flexibility, but visitors should have the appropriate license and understand local traffic requirements before riding. For a slower outing, walk along the Han River waterfront, where bridges, cafés, and illuminated buildings create an enjoyable evening atmosphere.

Visit the Dragon Bridge and My Khe Beach

The Dragon Bridge is one of Da Nang's most recognizable landmarks. Its distinctive design becomes especially noticeable after sunset, when the surrounding waterfront lights up. The bridge has a fire-and-water display on selected weekend nights, generally scheduled for 9 p.m. Check local announcements before planning an evening around it.
My Khe Beach is another popular stop, offering a long stretch of sand and views across the sea. Early mornings are often pleasant for walking, while late afternoons are suitable for relaxing by the shore.

Explore Ba Na Hills and Marble Mountains

Ba Na Hills is a mountain attraction reached by cable car. Its best-known landmark, the Golden Bridge, features a walkway supported by enormous sculpted hands. The complex also has landscaped gardens, viewpoints, and entertainment attractions. Visitors should set aside several hours and check ticket prices before traveling.
The Marble Mountains, a short drive from the city, feature limestone and marble hills with stairways, caves, and elevated viewpoints. Wear comfortable shoes because some routes involve steep steps. Entrance fees and elevator charges may vary depending on the areas visited.

Discover Local Markets and Cham Sculpture

Han Market is a useful place to browse local produce, clothing, souvenirs, and prepared food. Visitors can try regional specialties such as banh xeo, a crisp savory pancake, and mi quang, a noodle dish associated with central Vietnam. For a cultural stop, the Museum of Cham Sculpture displays carved works associated with the Cham civilization.

Take a Scenic Drive

Hai Van Pass offers a memorable route through green mountains overlooking the coastline. The winding road has viewpoints where travelers can pause for photographs and enjoy the scenery. Drive cautiously, particularly around sharp bends or during wet weather. Those unfamiliar with local roads may prefer a professional driver rather than riding a motorbike themselves.

Estimated Daily Costs

Da Nang can suit different budgets, depending on accommodation and dining choices. These approximate prices help with planning:
Budget hotel: US$12–US$25 per night
Street-food meal: US$1–US$3
Mid-range restaurant meal: US$8–US$16
Motorbike rental: US$6–US$10 per day
Da Nang combines beach time, mountain scenery, local food, and easy access to other destinations in central Vietnam. Two days cover several major highlights, while four days allow a more varied itinerary. Plan transportation in advance, check weather conditions, and leave room for unplanned stops to enjoy the city beyond its most famous attractions.
