At the other end of the scale, Palombaggia and Formentera can become considerably more expensive because accommodation prices rise sharply in July and August.
Haukland and West Beach are different again: you may spend more on transport and accommodation, but you are paying for remote landscapes, hiking and solitude rather than a traditional resort experience.
For most southern European destinations, June and September offer the best balance of warm weather, lower prices and fewer crowds. Choosing the right month can make just as much difference to your budget as choosing the right beach.
