The Cactus is a plant known for being tall and upright.
It has a vertical trunk up to 15 meters high. It weighs several tons and can live up to 200 years. The tallest cactus in the world, reaching a height of 21 meters, has an average lifespan of about 85 years.
The stem of the cactus has a great ability to store water. After heavy rain, the root system of a giant giant pillar can absorb about a ton of water.
Despite their height, Giant Pillar cacti have very shallow roots, with only a few branches at advanced ages. And these giant pillars are also known as saguaro cacti. The cactus has a cylindrical stem with 12-20 bulges.
The average age of a giant cactus can be about 85 years, with very few exceeding 200 years. The most dangerous time for them is when they are young. This is because during this time they grow very slowly and can be eaten by forest rats, Canadian pan sheep, California rabbits, etc.
Plants that grow in arid regions have a great capacity to adapt to drought. The cactus, known as the desert hero flower, has an amazing ability to tolerate drought because of its special ability to store water.
In particular, the giant cactus of the Mexican desert grows like a large forked pillar, usually six or seven stories high. The interesting thing is that in its huge body, it stores more than a ton of water.
Local passers-by often cut open this cactus, take the water to quench their thirst, and drink. Herbaceous plants such as aloe, agave, and begonia, they all have the ability to store water. But none of them can store as much water as the giant cactus. The giant cactus is indeed the most water-storing herb.
However, cacti are not easy to care for and require care and patience.
Because we all know that the cactus is a relatively drought tolerant plant. In less hot seasons, such as winter, the watering frequency is about once every 1-2 weeks. In the hot summer months, you can water once in the morning and once in the evening. Never water a cactus in the middle of the day in the hot sun.
As the temperature decreases, the cactus' need for water decreases. Remember to keep the soil dry so that the cactus can live longer.
Cactus roots can easily rot if they are left in a wet environment for a long time. When watering, you should also be careful to water along the edge of the pot without touching the stem or the grafted parts.
Cacti like sunlight the most. So if you can, let it see more sun. However, it is important to shade your cactus to avoid burning in direct sunlight in high summer.
In winter, it is possible to let the cactus bask in direct sunlight outside. However, in the case of young cacti, it is important to take care not to expose them to direct sunlight.
Although cacti have a long life span, it depends on how you care for them.
